Las Layendas
The Liga Nacional de Escondida doesn't have a traditional baseball Hall of Fame as such. Instead, the Liga staff, in consultation with El Presidente, journalists, players and fans can bestow the honourary title of "Una Layenda de la Liga" upon the best and brightest that Escondidan baseball has to offer.
The honour can be given to players, to managers, to coaches, to staff, or indeed to anyone the grandees consider worthy. There are no set criteria - sometimes the honour will be handed out for an individual feat, sometimes for a stellar season, a record-breaking achievement or a noteworthy success. Sometimes it will be given to recognise a long contribution to Escondidan baseball. Some of the legends are the best in Escondidan baseball history, while others are one hit wonders, whose names would be long forgotten were it not for one remarkable day.
But, no matter how they got here, their names are revered around the island. For together they are:

Our glorious leader! The hero of la revolucion! The founder of the Liga Nacional de Escondida, part-owner of Los Metropolitanos ball club and Escondidan baseball's biggest fan and supporter.
El Presidente was unanimously named as the first ever Layenda de la Liga by the panel of experts as they welcomed him to the opening Liga general meeting. El Presidente wishes to record his deep honour and gratitude at the gesture. He wants to let it be known that he will continue to put baseball at the heart of his planning for the glory of Escondida, and wishes to encourage all young, fit Escondidans to take up a sport in their free time so as maintain the competitive spirit of the league and all Escondidans, and to contribute to the future well being of our proud country.
